Salesforce.com could already be integrated with Facebook and Twitter, so how will Chatter be different? Chatter will be like having Facebook and Twitter combined together and private to your Enterprise, seamlessly integrated with your Salesforce.com Org and compliant with your security configurations. But there's more: Chatter will be accessible via the Saleforce.com API (which opens up limitless possibilities for integration) and with Chatter not just people will be able to post messages - you're standard and custom objects will be able talk to you're team via their own feeds.
